Book Review: Maintenance Management is essential for industrial plants for cost-effective operation

| @indiablooms | Aug 30, 2018, at 05:13 pm

Production at higher profit is the motto of every factory but without proper maintenance, it is not possible. Baidyanath Sahay has introduced the meaning of maintenance, its importance and the strategies to maintain the plants in a cost-effective way.

In any plant, the work environment and the condition of the employees must be the priority and a well-maintained plant can help to create a healthy space for all the workers.

However, the entire procedure needs proper planning, which must take care of factors like cost, preventive inspection and failure prevention.

All these points have been discussed in detail by the author in several chapters.

Written in a simple language, the format of the book is very conveniently arranged, so that whoever is reading the book can understand the main purpose behind it and can take some help.

The careful chapter divisions is one of the positive sides of this book besides its brevity and lucid style.

In this book, the author has projected a juxtaposition between the old notion of managing a plant and the latest techniques that should be used for better results.

Sahay has suggested the formation of a separate maintenance crew so that they can completely focus on it which will have an impact on the productivity of the plant.

Several techniques have been showcased by the author so that the engineers engaged in this work can find it easy to choose the best one for their plant and make a complete use of it.

'Maintenance Management' is specially designed for production engineers and other employees.

However, anyone who has an interest in this field can also give it a read for more knowledge.
