Kolkata/IBNS: Chinese Deputy Consul General in Kolkata, Qin Yong, launched Rita Bhimani's latest book, Meandering Mouthfuls, a book for all food lovers in Kolkata earlier this month.

The book aims to satisfy the curiosity of the food travelers and narrates about the cuisines of individual creativity and that it reflects its cultural perspectives and vouchsafed hospitality.

Communications expert, celebrated columnist and the author of Meandering Mouthfuls, Rita Bhimani said, "The book just wrote itself. I hate to say this but it just happened to me one fine day.

"One has travelled so much around the world that it also brought to me food, people, cultures and experiences and all of these melded into something that got into my psyche and I guess I had to spill it out sometime. So it started like that."

The book contains 10 chapters in all, covering cuisines of the countries like, USA, China, South Africa, France, Italy, Spain, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Japanese cuisine in Thailand. It also includes a number of do-able recipes from experts at the end of the book.

“This is a very interesting book. For me of course I paid more attention to this chapter about Chinese food. The variety of Chinese food is far beyond foreigners' imagination. Just like me, I came to India almost two and half years ago but I still cannot tell the difference of the Indian food. Every country, every culture has its own food”, said Qin Yong, the Deputy Chinese Consul General, expressing his views on the book.

Along with Rita Bhimani and the Deputy Chinese Consul General, Qin Yong, Julie Banerjee Mehta, a noted scholar, Ishika Konar, executive Chef of Hyatt Regency and Indrani Ganguly, the publisher at Readomania were also present at the launch of the book, Meandering Mouthfuls.
