Chumukeidma/Nagaland: Naga Leatherman, the brand of Chubatemsu, a bespoke leather brand, has been gaining recognition in the market for its premium and contemporary products.

Chubatemsu, a self-taught leather craftsman who meticulously handcrafts wallets, purses, bags, belts, holsters, and harnesses.

Naga Leatherman's products are not only luxurious and durable but also fashionable, making them highly sought after. Each piece is made to order, adding a personal touch to the brand's exquisite collection.

Despite lacking professional training in leather crafting, Chubatemsu has become a master of his craft, evident in the exceptional quality of his handcrafted leather products.

It is surprising to discover that his impressive skills were self-taught through YouTube tutorials, and a lot of hard work and perseverance through countless hours of practice and trial and error.

Chubatemsu's passion for leather crafting was ignited when he stumbled upon an old leather file case in 2018, during a low moment in his life.

Despite having no professional training or resources, he used the money left by his late mother to buy leather crafting tools and pursued his passion, he told The Morung Express.

He established Naga Leatherman in 2019, but struggled to make sales initially.

However, he remained patient and consistent, which eventually led to opportunities for his business to grow.

Chubatemsu now has a home-based workshop in Naga United Village, where he uses only high-quality full grain and top grain leather for his unique and customizable leather products.

He believes that becoming a leather craftsman requires patience, rationality, and above all, passion. Chubatemsu plans to offer training courses for people interested in the craft and has already developed two courses, with a master course in the works.
