Short story collections released in Kolkata

Kolkata, Aug 3 (IBNS): Short stories have been considered both an apprenticeship form preceding more lengthy works, and a crafted form in its own right. Believing this ideology, singer, performer and lyricist Surojit Chatterjee and Patrabharati Publishers jointly launched 'Alpo Kathay Goppo' a collection of 60 short stories Sunday in the presence of novelist Sanjib Chattopadhyay and poet Krishna Basu at Niranjan Sadan.

 ‘Alpo Kathay Goppo’ includes 60 different short stories written by the members of The Kobita Club.

Alpo Kothay Goppo is the first move away from poems to prose by The Kobita Club. The Kobita Club is a virtual conceptualized so that the present Bengali generation can nurture and be inspired by their glorious literary heritage. Selection of the virtual platform has been done as the current generation is becoming increasing more technology savvy.

Speaking on the occasion Surojit Chatterjee said, “I started Kobita Club with my young fans with a lot of doubts, but the unprecedented participation from them has greatly overwhelmed me. I am amazed at this show of sheer talent and am hopeful that the book Alpo Kathay Goppo will create ripples in the book lovers’ mind."

The short stories capture an array of subjects and human emotions and are bound to move the readers as they share the experiences of the authors. The stories chosen for the book are from Kobita Club members from across the world and the range of subjects transcends not only generations but also physical boundaries.
