14 labourers die after consuming wild fruits in Meghalaya
Guwahati, Apr 7 (IBNS): At least 14 labourers from Assam's Dhubri district died after consuming chutney made from wild fruits with evening meal in Meghalaya on Sunday, reports said Tuesday.
The bodies of the road construction labourers were found near the camp at Saipung in East Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya on Monday morning, police said.
According to reports, the labourers engaged in road construction hailed from Dhubri district of Assam had collected wild fruits from the forest area and made chutney and consumed with evening meal.
The bodies of the labourers were found died near their camp on next day morning and they have yet to be identified.
All bodies had been sent to hospital for post-mortem.
