Days after Jamui outrage, another girl sexually harassed in Bihar; 4 arrested

A video of the Samastipur incident has gone viral on social media, showing a group of men allegedly grabbing the girl by her arms in broad daylight and harassing a boy who was accompanying her.

The incident reportedly took place in Samastipur on Wednesday evening.

Four people have been arrested in connection with the case.

According to police, as reported by Hindustan Times, the arrested men have been identified as Vikash Kumar Sharma, Rahul Kumar Paswan, Rambabu Sahni and Awadhesh Paswan.

Tejashwi Yadav attacks Bihar government

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Tejashwi Yadav shared the video on social media and accused the NDA government in Bihar of failing to maintain law and order.

In a post on X, Yadav directly targeted Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and alleged that the state's law-and-order situation had deteriorated.

"When the Chief Minister of the state has a criminal mindset, honoring criminals based on their caste, it's inevitable for such anarchy to arise in that state. Now, the caste-expert Chief Minister will take action only after checking the criminals' caste, or will he suppress the case. Then, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will find some kinship in it. Shameful!" he wrote.

Samastipur incident follows Jamui case

The Samastipur incident comes days after a separate case in Jamui involving two minors sparked widespread outrage.

On September 19, a Class 10 girl and a teenage boy were allegedly stopped and assaulted by a group of men while returning from Mawara Hill.

The two minors, who were students at the same coaching institute, had reportedly gone to the area after attending coaching classes and were returning on a scooter when a group of youths allegedly stopped them.

The group allegedly confronted the teenagers over their presence together, abused them and assaulted the boy. The girl was allegedly subjected to sexual harassment and physical assault.

A video of the Jamui incident, reportedly recorded by members of the group, subsequently circulated on social media.

Police action in Jamui case

Police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested several accused in connection with the Jamui incident.

An SIT was also formed to identify and apprehend other suspects.

The circulation of videos involving minor victims has also raised concerns over the protection of their identities, with authorities warning against sharing material that could identify them.
