New Delhi/IBNS: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday released the first list of 11 candidates for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, media reports said.

The list includes six turncoats, who switched from either Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or Congress to the AAP.

The candidates who switched from the BJP to AAP are Brahm Singh Tanwar, Anil Jha and B Tyagi while the Congress turncoats are Chaudhry Zubair Ahmad, Veer Dhingan and Sumesh Shokeen.

Three sitting MLAs have been denied tickets.

In September this year, senior AAP leader Atishi became the Delhi Chief Minister replacing Arvind Kejriwal, who resigned after he was granted bail by the court in liquor policy case.

Kejriwal was barred from entering the Chief Minister's office as one of the conditions for his bail.

The BJP, which swept all seven Lok Sabha seats in May-June elections, is aiming to unseat the AAP government, which has been running since 2015.

The Delhi assembly elections are due to be held earlier next year.

In the 2020 elections, the AAP had swept 67 out of 70 assembly seats in the union territory.
