After Modi's tour, Amit Shah to begin 2-day visit to West Bengal today

Shah will arrive in Kolkata at night on Saturday. He will stay at a five-star hotel along EM Bypass in the city.

He will attend a government programme on Sunday morning. Later in the day, the Home Minister is scheduled to be present at his party's convention at Netaji Indoor Stadium.

Shah's message for his party leaders and workers will be closely followed as Modi on Thursday gave a call to uproot the Trinamool Congress government from the state in the 2026 assembly elections.

The Home Minister will also visit Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda's ancestral house at Simla Street in the northern part of Kolkata.

Modi raises Murshidabad violence and SSC scam in Alipurduar rally

Addressing a rally in Alipurduar, Modi referred to the recent communal violence in Murshidabad and Malda, where hundreds of Hindus had to flee their home and take refuge elsewhere due to an attack.

Categorising various fronts in which he feels the state is suffering, Modi said, "West Bengal is grappling with a series of crises. The first is the widespread violence and lawlessness that are tearing apart the fabric of society. The second is the growing sense of insecurity among mothers and sisters, compounded by the horrific crimes being committed against them.

"The third is the deepening despair among the youth, driven by soaring unemployment and a lack of opportunities. The fourth is the pervasive corruption, which continues to erode public trust in the system. The fifth crisis stems from the self-serving politics of the ruling party, which is stripping the poor of their rightful entitlements. Incidents in Murshidabad and Malda are stark examples of the TMC government's cruelty and indifference to the people's suffering."

The Prime Minister has touched upon the School Service Commission (SSC) scam that has led to the annulment of over 25,000 jobs.

The Supreme Court has cancelled the entire 2016 recruitment panel as the government couldn't produce the separate lists of deserving and tainted candidates.

"The youth, poor, and middle-class families are bearing the brunt of corruption. We've seen how corruption leads to destruction, especially in the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam.

"The TMC government has ruined the future of thousands of teachers and their families. This is not just the destruction of a few thousand teachers, but the entire education system is deteriorating. Even now, they refuse to admit their mistakes, instead blaming the courts," the Prime Minister said.
