Ahead of poll results, Congress sends feelers to AAP, TMC in Goa

Congress Goa desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao has said his party is open to stitch a post-poll alliance with anti-BJP parties including the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC). 

Rao told The Indian Express, "Whichever party is against the BJP, we will talk with them and we are ready to take them on board. I am not talking about any particular party now. Any party that does not want to support the BJP, we are willing to accommodate them."

He added, "During elections, there were many allegations made by the AAP and the TMC against us and we have made against them. That was during elections but now post the results it depends on those parties what stand they want to take. For us, we are willing to work with parties that do not support the BJP."

This comes as the exit polls have predicted a tight race in Goa, with the BJP said to win 18 of the state's 40 seats and the Congress 15.

However, both are predicted to get below the majority mark of 21.

The India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll for the Goa Assembly election has predicted 15-20 seats for the Congress-Goa Forward Party alliance.

According to the exit poll, the BJP will win 14-18 seats in the 40-seat Assembly.

Meanwhile amid the tense political situation in the state, Goa Chief Minister and BJP leader, Pramod Sawant, on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and briefed him about the party's prospects in retaining power.
