Mumbai/IBNS: An Air India flight on Monday veered off runway at the Mumbai airport due to heavy rainfall, media reports said.

The Mumbai-bound flight, which was coming from Kochi, veered off shortly after landing.

Three tyres of the flight burst during the landing, Hindustan Times reported.

"Flight AI2744, operating from Kochi to Mumbai on 21 July 2025, experienced heavy rain during landing, resulting in a runway excursion after touchdown.

"The aircraft taxied safely to the gate, and all passengers and crew members have since disembarked. The aircraft has been grounded for checks. The safety of passengers and crew remains our top priority," an Air India spokesperson said as quoted by the daily.

The runway suffered minor damage.

Inspection and repair of the runway is underway.
