APJ Abdul Kalam's funeral to be held in Rameswaram today

Chennai, July 30 (IBNS): Former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam's funeral will be held at his hometown Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

His body reached the town from Delhi on Wednesday.

His funeral will be held with full military honours.

Principal Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence,Sitanshu Kar earlier tweeted: "The rush at #Rameswaram .. to pay homage to #PeoplesPresident #APJAbdulKalam."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders will attend Kalam's funeral.

Kalam, a scientist of eminence and Bharat Ratna, died following a massive heart attack while speaking at a programme of Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, on Monday.
