'Asif bhai gun nikal': 17-year-old's chilling account of men posing as cops raping her in South Delhi park
New Delhi/IBNS: A 17-year-old girl has recounted chilling details of a rape at Aastha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Mandir in South Delhi, amid renewed concerns over women's safety in the national capital, media reports said.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident occurred on the girl's birthday when she had gone out with a male friend. She said they had visited Kalkaji Mandir and planned to go to the ISKCON temple later in the evening.
Girl and friend entered park
The girl told police that she left home and took an auto around 5 pm, reaching the temple at approximately 5:45 pm with her male friend.
The two stayed there until around 7 pm before buying a packet of chips and a bottle of water outside Kalkaji Metro Station.
They then entered Aastha Kunj Park through Gate No. 7.
According to her statement, they planned to sit on a bench, eat the chips and then proceed towards the ISKCON temple.
Three men posed as cops
The girl said that while they were sitting on a bench, three men, aged between 30 and 35, approached them.
According to the FIR, the men grabbed her friend and slapped him. When the two asked who they were, the accused claimed to be police officers and questioned them about entering the park, saying that entry was not permitted.
The men took away their mobile phones. One of them took the girl's friend to another part of the park, while the other two directed her towards the bushes.
The girl told police that she was frightened and asked the men to speak to her mother if they wanted to question her.
Girl alleges sexual assault
According to her statement, one of the men then said, "Asif bhai gun nikal."
The girl identified Asif as the man wearing a purple-coloured shirt and described him as the most heavily built of the three. She said that he briefly displayed a gun before putting it away.
The men then took out knives and led her to a dark area of the park.
According to the FIR, Asif removed her clothes and took her to a red bench while another accused, identified as Hemu, was allegedly asked to keep watch.
The girl said that Asif put on a condom, threatened her with a knife and raped her, causing her considerable pain.
She further said that Hemu and Deepu subsequently sexually assaulted her at the same location.
Accused allegedly threatened the victims
The girl told police that after the assaults, the accused asked her to get dressed quickly. She said one of the men gave her a T-shirt and another gave her jeans, while her bra was not returned.
The accused then brought her friend back, returned their mobile phones and instructed them to leave the park.
According to her statement, the men also threatened to kill them if they disclosed the incident to anyone.
Police begin investigation
The two were taken out of the park after the incident.
The girl said she subsequently told her friend what had happened, following which he called the police control room (PCR).
Police then reached the spot and began investigating the case.
