Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma takes part in cycle rally ‘Go for Glory Lovlina’ in Guwahati

Guwahati/IBNS: The Assam government on Wednesday organized a cycle rally to support, motivate and wish luck to Lovlina Borgohain, the lone competitor from the state to take part in the Tokyo Olympics.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, his cabinet colleagues, MLAs of ruling and opposition parties took part in the cycle rally to cheer up for Lovlina.

The Assam Chief Minister had flagged off the rally ‘Go for Glory Lovlina’ and he himself took part in the rally that started from Lastgate to Nehru Stadium in the capital city of the state.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said that every person of Assam today prayed to God for the success of Lovlina.

“We hope that prayers and support from the people will bring Lovlina to the last door of her success. We all the people of Assam with Lovlina and our support will be with her,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

23-year-old Lovlina Borgohain who had qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in March last year, will be competing in the welterweight category (69 kg).

The Tokyo Olympics are scheduled from July 23 to August 8 with the boxing events starting from July 24.
