Assam CM orders for Addl Chief Secretary level inquiry into alleged US firm bribery case

Guwahati, July 20 (IBNS) : Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday ordered an inquiry into the alleged bribery case by a US firm Louis Berger International Inc to be a Project Management Consultant (PMC) of a water supply project under Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).

The Assam CM directed the Additional Chief Secretary of the state government Subhas Das to probe into the bribery case.

“I have already directed to Additional Chief Secretary Subhas Das to probe into the alleged bribery case under GMDA,” Gogoi told media in Guwahati on Monday.

“I asked the Additional Chief Secretary to submit the report soon. If any prima facie evidence found then I will refer it to the CBI,” Assam CM said.

The US firm Louis Berger International Inc had got jobs as consultant of a Guwahati water supply project under GMDA in 2010.
