Assam Minister's security guard shoots himself dead in Guwahati

Guwahati, Aug 17 (IBNS) : A security guard of Assam Tourism minister Sumitra Patir shot himself dead by his service gun at the minister's official residence in Guwahati on Sunday night, police said on Monday.

According to police, the guard, Akhil Haloi, hailing from Nalbari district, shot himself by his service gun in the barrack attached to the minister’s official residence around 11 pm on Sunday.

His colleagues heard a gunshot and rushed to the barrack and found the bullet injuries body.

“The security guard was immediately rushed to the Guwahati Mediacal College hospital and breathed his last on the way,” an official of Guwahati city police said.

When the incident took place, the minister was not present at her official residence.
