Birthday wish: Modi, Putin discuss bilateral agenda, Ukraine during telephone conversation

Indian PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday took stock of various issues on the bilateral agenda in the run-up to the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit during his telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Indian PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday took stock of various issues on the bilateral agenda in the run-up to the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit during his telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putin dialled Modi to wish the Indian leader on his birthday.

"President Putin warmly conveyed his greetings on Prime Minister’s 75th birthday. Prime Minister expressed his heartfelt appreciation for his wishes and enduring friendship," read a statement issued on the conversation between the two leaders by the Indian government.

During their telephone discussion, Modi conveyed that he is looking forward to welcoming President Putin to India later this year.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s full support for the peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.

In a separate X post, Modi said: "Thank you, my friend, President Putin, for your phone call and warm wishes on my 75th birthday. We are committed to further strengthening our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. India is ready to make all possible contributions towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict."

World leaders send wishes

Birthday greetings for the Prime Minister poured in from across the globe. US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin both called Delhi, while leaders such as Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese extended their wishes on social media.
