IndiGo, Air India cancel Riyadh flights after Houthi attack threat

Air India, IndiGo and Air India Express have cancelled flights to and from Riyadh until October 10 amid heightened security concerns following a series of attacks claimed by Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

The airlines said affected passengers would be offered either complimentary rescheduling or a full refund, as they continue to monitor the rapidly evolving situation in the region.

Houthis issue warning to airlines

The cancellations came hours after the Houthis issued what they described as a final warning to international airlines operating in Saudi airspace.

The rebels have repeatedly claimed attacks targeting Saudi airports, military installations and oil facilities in recent days, escalating tensions in the region.

Riyadh Airport urges passengers to check flights

King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh urged passengers to contact their respective airlines and verify their flight status before travelling to the airport.

The advisory followed reports of multiple explosions over the Saudi capital early Thursday, raising concerns over air travel and airport operations.

Three killed in airport attacks

Saudi officials said attacks claimed by the Houthis on Riyadh and Abha airports on Wednesday killed three people.

The reported deaths mark the first fatalities since Saudi Arabia and allied Yemeni forces launched a major ground and air offensive against the Houthi rebels.

With tensions continuing to rise, airlines are closely monitoring developments before deciding when regular operations to Riyadh can safely resume.
