Caste Census report released: Jaitley says vital for planning

New Delhi, Jul 3 (IBNS) Releasing the first-ever socio economic caste census Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday said this will be a very important input for all policy makers.

"A document of this kind will reflect the realities of India is going to be a very important input for all policy makers...this will form basis of helping us target groups for support," he said.


The rural development ministry began the exercise for caste census in 2011. 

Rural Development Minister Birender Singh said :"We have now a regionally reliable data for rural households through the first ever socio-economic caste census."

"We are on the cusp of a huge development shift," he said.
