CBSE cancels board exams scheduled from Jul 1, to conduct Class 12 th exams later

New Delhi/IBNS: CBSE has informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that the board exams for remaining papers scheduled from July 1 to July 15 have been cancelled. 

Appearing for CBSE, the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the apex court that Delhi, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have communicated their inability to conduct the exams on the scheduled dates, said media reports.

The Solicitor General informed the Supreme Court that the board will hold the exams when the situation is conducive.

The SC also asked the board if it will conduct the exams or declare results based on internal assessment for the remaining exams.

Replying to the enquiry, CBSE said that it will provide the opportunity to appear for the exams later to the class 12 students, who choose to take the exams, while others can be assessed on the basis of the last three exams, an evaluation scheme it has come updue to Covid-19 crisis.

The class10 exams scheduled for the North-East Delhi students are cancelled, the board said.

The Supreme Court was hearing a petition filed by parents of the students seeking a stay on the remaining exams scheduled between July 1 to July 15.
