Congress flays Modi for 'demeaning' India in abroad
"Modi said India won't beg again; was India a beggar earlier? The Prime Minister talked like a BJP leader in Canada. Nobody has ever abused the opposition so much outside the country," senior Congress leader Anand Sharma said.
Sharma referred to Modi's address to Indian diaspora at Richo Coliseum in Toronto.
Sharma also took a serious view of Modi criticising the previous UPA government during his stay abroad.
Hinting at the scams that took place during the UPA regime, Modi said he was committed to cleaning up the mess of the past.
"The government in India has changed, so has the outlook of Indians. My job is to ensure that India is cleaned up. It will take time to clean up the mess of the past. There is an atmosphere of trust in India now," he had said.
The Prime Minister wound up his three-nation tour to France, Germany and Canada on Friday. He will reach India on Saturday.
