Guwahati, Dec 27 (IBNS) : Condemning Nilamoni Sen Deka's remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani, the Assam BJP on Sunday demanded the Congress to take strong action against the leader.

Nilamoni Sen Deka, a Congress leader of Assam and former Agriculture minister of the Tarun Gogoi- led state government, on Sunday alleged that Smriti Irani is the second wife of Modi.

During a public meeting held in Lower Assam's Nalbari district, Deka alleged that Irani is the second wife of Modi and he also questioned the Minister's  educational qualification.

After the Congress leader's remarks on Modi and Smriti Irani triggered a controversy , the Nalbari district BJP unit burned the effigy of Nilamoni Sen Deka.

On other hand, the Assam BJP unit president and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, "We have urged the Congress president to take stern action against the Congress leader."
