Congress should find its missing leader: Amit Shah
Bengaluru, Apr 3 (IBNS) Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, BJP president Amit Shah on Friday said instead of finding fault with the government, the opposition party should find its "missing leader" Rahul Gandhi.
Shah's jibe came at the BJP's National Executive meeting where the party bigwigs including Prime Minister Narendra Modi are working on plans for upcoming elections in important states and countering the campaign against the proposed reformation in the land law.
The BJP president apparently sought to hit at a soft target that Congress bared with the six-week disappearance of its vice-president Rahul Gandhi since the beginning of the budget session of parliament, triggering widespread criticism and speculations.
Though Congress said Gandhi was on a furlough for an "introspection" and would be back in Delhi on April 12, his prolonged absence remained somewhat a mystery to provide fodder for the BJP.
The Congress, however, shot back asking the BJP to dosome "honest soul searching" over its "false promises" they made to the people of the country.
"Amit Shah is national president of the BJP, and one did expect that he will talk with some maturity. Congress does not need his sermons," Congress leader Anand Sharma said.
"In the national executive meet, they should be reflecting doing some honest soul searching that they made false promises to the people, to the youth, to the farmers, to the women," he said.
Rahul's mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi said at a series of meetings this week "Rahul will be with you soon."
Rahul's disappearance followed a series of electoral disasters for his party both at the national level and in the Delhi assembly poll.
Reports are doing rounds that Rahul will be elevated to the post of party president, the office currently held by his mother.
