Cop killing in East Midnapore: Main accused arrested

Kolkata, Jan 12 (IBNS): Days after a policeman- Nabakumar Hait- was shot dead during night-patrolling on NH-41 in East Midnapore, the main accused in this case- Karna Bera- was nabbed from Sonarpur Radhanagar area in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Monday, reports said.

On Thursday, when the police constable chased two men, who were moving suspiciously Kapaseria village under Mahishadal Police Station area in East Midnapore district, they fired bullets and threw bombs aiming at the policeman.

Nabakumar Hait was gunned down and another policeman was injured in the sudden attack.

After starting investigation, police earlier on Saturday arrested Sk. Soni alias Rahim from Jaynagar area in South 24 Parganas district and after interrogating him, the main accused was caught on Monday.

Karna Bera will be produced to a local court on Tuesday.
