Days after BJP's landslide win, Bhupendra Patel takes oath as Gujarat CM

Days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stormed back to power, Bhupendra Patel took oath as the state Chief Minister for the second consecutive term on Monday.

Patel took oath at a grand swearing-in ceremony, which was attended by Prime Minister Modi and other BJP Chief Ministers.

The country's ruling BJP last Thursday scripted history by winning 156 of 182 seats in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's homestate Gujarat, where the saffron camp returned to power for the seventh consecutive term.

The beleaguered prime opposition party Congress has managed to bag only 17 seats.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which led an aggressive campaign unlike Congress, won 5 seats and got approximately 13 percent vote share, something that would be interesting to follow in the next five years.

Bhupendra Patel has won from the Ghatlodia constituency.
