Delhi: 8-year-old abducted and raped outside home, youth detained

New Delhi, Jun 1 (IBNS) An eight-year-old girl, sleeping outside her house along with her family members, was abducted and raped in Delhi's Aman Vihar area last week, reports said.

Police have detained a youth, following CCTV footage, which showed him dragging the girl outside.

The incident took place on Friday midnight.

The class three student was taken some 200 metres away from her home and raped.

The victim's father was quoted as saying by The Indian Express, "My daughter woke me up… she was crying. When I asked her what had happened, she said somebody had beaten her up. My husband, who was sleeping inside the house, came out and gave her some water."

"She slept that night but the next morning, I realised she was bleeding. I informed other family members and we rushed her to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. The doctors told us that she had been raped and it was a police case," her mother said.

Police have said that a case under IPC sections 363 (abduction) and 376 (rape) have been lodged along with other relevant sections.

They also informed that the accused had confessed to the crime.
