Doctor booked for rash driving in Cyrus Mistry car accident case

Maharashtra Police have booked the doctor who was driving the car that met with an accident, killing former Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry, one of the passengers in the vehicle.

A case has been registered against renowned gynaecologist Anahita Pandole for rash driving at Kasa Police Station, media reports said.

The accident occurred on September 4 when the car hit a road divider on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Maharashtra's Palghar district, over 100 km away from Mumbai, and killed former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry and another person.

Police have booked Anahita Pandole sections 304 A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act, India Today reported.

Anahita Pandole, who was behind the wheel, and her husband Darius Pandole sustained gruesome injuries in the car crash.

Cyrus Mistry and his co-passenger Jahangir Pandole died on the spot.

Anahita Pandole and her husband Darius Pandole underwent treatment at the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai.

While Darius Pandole has been discharged, Anahita Pandole went through reconstruction surgery and is currently undergoing physiotherapy at the hospital.

The India Today report said, she will be released from the hospital soon.
