Eleven killed in Tamil Nadu bus accident

Chennai, Jan 8 (IBNS) Altogether eleven people, including two children, were killed and at least 20 others injured when the bus carrying them overturned near South Valliyur, 40 km from Tirunelveli town in Tamil Nadu on Friday, reports said.

The accident took place  around 5.30 am in the morning.

Reports said the mishap happened when the driver suddenly turned the bus to avoid hitting a water tank and lost control over the steering.

. The bus was coming from Karaikal and most of the passengers were travelling to Thiruvananthapuram. 

According to police, about 38 passengers were travelling in the bus. The condition of some of the injured is stated to be critical.
