Finance Ministry's senior official dies after BMW car hit motorcycle, wife seriously injured

New Delhi/IBNS: Union Finance Ministry's deputy secretary Navjot Singh died after a BMW car hit his motorcycle on Ring Road near Delhi Cantt Metro Station in the capital on Sunday, media reports said.

Singh's wife Sandeep Kaur is seriously injured.

Singh met the accident when he was returning home from Bangla Sahib Gurdwara.

The 52-year-old victim was the Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs under the Finance Ministry.

The couple's son claimed his parents were admitted to a hospital 17 kilometers away from the accident site for some unknown reason instead of rushing to a nearby facility.

The BMW car was driven by a woman identified as Gaganpreet whose husband Parikshit was seated beside.

Both the car and motorcycle have been seized by police. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered while a probe is underway.

The couple's son said Gaganpreet was also injured and alleged the hospital has been evasive on the woman's whereabouts and is trying to make a fake medico-legal certificate for her, NDTV reported.
