Chennai, Nov 12 (IBNS) Former Rajya Sabha member N Rajendran was found dead with bullet injuries in his car in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin district on Wednesday, reports said.

Police suspect that  Rajendran shot himself.

The  62-year-old former lawmaker seemed to have used his own licensed revolver. However, no suicide note was found from the spot.

Rajendran was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the AIADMK in  1996. In 2000, he switched to the DMK which appointed him treasurer of the Tuticorin district unit around that time.

His family says he was involved in various businesses including hotel and transport.
