Srinagar, Jan 9 (IBNS) The Centre on Saturday announced that Governor’s Rule has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

"Governor’s Rule has been imposed in the State of Jammu and Kashmir," read a statement issued by the Centre.

The move was made following the death of state Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.

After death of Mufti Muhammad Syed on Thursday,  it became clear that Governor's rule is likely to be imposed in the state as PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is insisting on not taking oath as the new chief minister before the end of four-day mourning for her father.
