Husband chops off wife's hand in Burdwan after she gets government job, 2 arrested

Burdwan: Police have arrested two people from East Burdwan on Tuesday for allegedly being involved in the incident of chopping off the hand of a woman by her husband.

The arrested people are in-laws of the victim.

They have been identified as Sheikh Siraj and Mehernika Bibi.

The key accused in the case Sher Mahammad, who is the husband of the victim, is still absconding.

Sher reportedly chopped off the hand of his wife after she secured a job as a nurse at a government hospital.

The victim- Renu Khatun- is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Durgapur.
