INDIA bloc to knock on Supreme Court's doors over alleged EVM manipulation during Maharashtra polls

New Delhi/IBNS: The Opposition INDIA alliance is planning to approach the Supreme Court over what it alleges to be Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) manipulation during the recently concluded assembly election in Maharashtra which the NDA won with a thumping majority.

The decision was made at a meeting between veteran political leader Sharad Pawar and Delhi's former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday evening.

The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, including Pawar's party, has been decimated in Maharashtra.

The decision gains more significance given the upcoming assembly election in Delhi, which also calls for some planning in this regard, media reports said.

The Mahayuti alliance secured a dominant victory in the November 20 elections, winning 230 out of 288 Assembly seats.

The BJP emerged as the largest party with a record 132 seats, while the Shiv Sena and NCP won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal's AAP has swept the last two assembly elections in Delhi. However, the BJP is hoping for better performance in view of the corruption allegations against top AAP leaders including Kejriwal.

The Congress in the past went on to blame the Election Commission for its loss in Haryana too as the INDIA alliance members slammed it for less than impressive performance.
