New Delhi, Aug 3 (IBNS) More than 800 porn websites have been blocked by the internet services providers in the country.

According to reports, the move was made after an order was given by the Government of India, media reports said.

"In an order issued late on Friday night, the government had asked all internet services provider to block access to pornography websites," The Hindu reported.

Slamming the move, writer Chetan Bhagat tweeted: "Porn ban is anti-freedom, impractical, not enforceable. Politically not very smart too. avoidable. Let's not manage people's private lives."

"Don't ban porn. Ban men ogling, leering, brushing past, groping, molesting, abusing, humiliating and raping women. Ban non-consent. Not sex," he said.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma earlier tweeted: "To ban porn saying it will be seen by who shouldn't see it is like saying to stop traffic because there will be accidents."
