According to police reports, acting on a tip off, the STF arrested three suspects- Ershad Hyder Ansari, his son Ashfaque Ansari and their relative Md. Jehangir- from Khidderpore under Garden Reach Police Station area in Kolkata.

Suspected ISI agent Mohammand Eizaz was earlier booked by UP STF on Friday from Meerut Cantonment area with several incriminating documents.

Inspector General (IG) of UP STF Sujeet Pandey told IBNS: "We arrested one suspected ISI agent Md. Eizaz, a resident of Islamabad, from Meerut Cantt area, when he was going to Delhi, on Friday. We recovered few sensitive documents, related to Indian army, from him. Besides that, Pakistani identity proof, fake Aadhaar card with a Bareilly district address, Delhi Metro card, laptop and few pen drives were also recovered from him."

The UP Police also recovered a fake voter identity card of West Bengal and informed Kolkata Police about that.
After starting investigation on the link, Kolkata Police made these arrests.

"We recovered a fake voter identity card of West Bengal with a Kolkata address from Md. Eizaz and immediately forwarded the information to Kolkata Police," Sujeet Pandey further said.

According to reports, arrested Ershad Hyder Ansari works in Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) as a peon and he is a local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader.

His son Ashfaque Ansari, who is studying political science (3rd year) in Garden Reach Harimohan Ghosh College, was identified as former general secretary of the college's Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) ruled student union.

After interrogating suspected ISI spy Md. Eizaz, police have come to know that after coming India from Pakistan, Eizaz was provided shelter in Kolkata dock area by Ershad and his son Ashfaque. Another arrested Md. Jehangir reportedly managed him fake Indian passport and voter identity card.

The family members of Ershad, Ashfaque and Jehangir claimed that the trio went missing since Thursday evening and a missing complaint was lodged at Garden Reach Police Station on Friday.

However, local TMC and TMCP leaders denied their involvement in the matter.

Kolkata Police's STF earlier nabbed suspected ISI agents Akhtar Khan and his brother Zafar Khan from the city on Nov 14 and Nov 16 respectively and they both are in police custody.

Meanwhile, suspected ISI agent Md. Eizaz was produced in a local court in Meerut and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
