At least two terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Saturday.

The encounter broke out near Halkan Gali in the Shangus-Larnoo area of the south Kashmir district, reported Hindustan Times.

The joint forces are currently carrying out search operations in the area.

"The CASO turned into an encounter when hiding terrorists opened fire on the forces. In the encounter that followed two terrorists have been killed," a security official told UNI.

Another encounter is currently underway in the Khanyar area.

"A cordon & search operation in Khanyar area of district Srinagar has resulted in an exchange of fire. Police & security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow," Kashmir PoliceZone posted on X.

The security forces killed the terrorists just a day after two labourers from Uttar Pradesh were shot in Budgam.

Both the workers were rushed to a hospital, where the doctors said they were out of danger.

This was the fourth such attack on migrant workers in the Kashmir Valley in the past two weeks.

On Oct 20, terrorists killed seven people including a local doctor and two workers from Bihar while they were working at a tunnel construction site in Ganderbal district.

Of the two terrorists involved in the attack, one was identified as a local man from south Kashmir's Kulgam. He joined a terrorist group in 2023.

The other terrorists are believed to have hailed from Pakistan.

Two soldiers and two labourers were also killed in action in Baramulla district.
