J&K's Tangdhar attack: All three terrorists killed
Srinagar, Nov 25 (IBNS): All three terrorists, who attacked an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Tangdhar, were killed in the seven-hour long gun battle with security forces on Wednesday.
According to media reports, a civilian was also killed in the firing.
Militant outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In a statement issued to the Srinagar-based news wire CNS, Jaish spokesperson Muhammad Hasan said three militants of the outfit stormed into the army camp early on Wednesday morning.
“Three militants of the outfit have taken positions in the camp and have been targeting Indian troopers. The militants managed to inflict heavy damage on the Indian forces,” the statement said.
A senior police official told IBNS on phone that three heavily armed militants opened fire and threw grenades on the camp taking position in Darshak forests adjacent to Kalsuri ridge. This resulted in a fierce exchange of fire at 8:17 am.
A solider was killed and an army JCO injured in the gun battle.
An oil depot in the army camp also caught fire.
