Kalam compliments Indian Navy for successful Yemen operation

New Delhi, Apr 11 (IBNS) Former President of India Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam complimented Indian navy for its successful operation in evacuating Indians stranded in war hit Yemen.

He was delivering the key note address at the Admiral A.K.Chatterjee Memorial Lecture organized by the Navy Foundation (Kolkata Chapter) and the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd, M/o Defence, here today.

Vice Admiral Satish Soni was present on the occasion.

Kalam emphasized the need to develop economically and militarily to become a world power and said, “only Strength respects Strength”.

He identified five areas which needs special focus to make India a developed country. These are Agriculture and Food processing sector; women education and health care; information and communication technology; reliable and quality electric power especially solar power, surface transport and self reliant critical technology.

He appealed to youngsters present there to come up with Out of the Box ideas to achieve a great profile for the country.

Kalam underlined the need to have a visionary leadership and said that leaders should manage success and failure confidently and have courage to take decisions and have transparency and integrity to be successful.

“Work with integrity and succeed with integrity,” he added.
