Kerala nun rape case: Protesting nuns appeal to CM Vijayan against transfer

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 19 (IBNS): Nuns, who had protested against Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal for raping a nun, have appealed to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan against their transfer, media reports said.

Missionaries of Jesus Congregation issued transfer orders to the nuns who had protested against Mulakkal.

The nuns has requested Vijayan to intervene in the matter and allow them to live in the convent.

The nuns also said they do not feel safe as Mulakkal still lives under the protection of the church.

Mulakkal, who was earlier arrested, was granted a bail by the Kerala High Court  in October.

In her complaint in June, the nun had alleged she was raped in 2014 and was also sexually violated on multiple occasions.

The nun also said the church authorities did not act after repeated complaints against Mulakkal.
