Kolkata hit-and-run case: Third accused Johny arrested

Kolkata, Jan 19 (IBNS): The Anti Rowdy Squad of the Kolkata Police on Tuesday morning arrested the third accused in connection with the killing of an Airman, who was knocked down by a speeding Audi car during the Republic Day parade practice in Kolkata's Red Road, sources said.

According to police sources, main culprit in the case, Sambia Sohrab's friend Johny, who was with him that day, was nabbed from Kolkata Port area on Tuesday early morning and has been taken to Kolkata Police headquarters Lalbazar.

Nearly four days after the incident, main accused TMC leader Md Sohrab's younger son Sambia Sohrab, who was driving the killer Audi that day, was arrested from Kolkata on Saturday night and a day after Sambia's close friend Sanu was booked from New Delhi on Sunday night.

However, Sanu has been taken to Kolkata on transit remand and will be produce to the Bankshall Court on Tuesday.

Johny will be produced to the same court on Tuesday.

Sambia is in police custody till Jan 30.

Sambia's friends Sanu and Johny have told police the 26-year-old was with them just before the accident and was driving drunk. They claimed that when they tried to stop him, he fought with them and drove off.
