Kolkata, July 9 (IBNS): One pedestrian was gunned down and two others were injured by bullets on Wednesday midnight when some miscreants fired indiscriminately near Kobordanga More under Haridevpur Police Station in Kolkata, reports said.

The turmoil was started after a broil inside a singing-bar at Haridevpur area on Wednesday night, police reports said.

According to police reports, six or seven gunmen came to the area around 12:30 am and started firing indiscriminately.

They reportedly fired at least 35 rounds of bullets.

The Joint Commissioner (Crime) of Kolkata police Pallab Kanti Ghosh and deputy commissioner (south west division) Rashid Munir Khan visited the spot on Thursday morning.

"One pedestrian Rahul Majumder (26) who was not involved in the incident was killed on the spot and two others have been injured and are being treated in M. R. Bangur Hospital," DC-SWD Rashid Munir Khan told IBNS.

Police arrested one suspect named Bijay Bhowmik in connection with the case on Thursday.

Joint CP (Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh told IBNS: "We have started investigation into this case. We are examining the CCTV footage of the bar and interrogating the arrested to know about others involved in this incident."

According to the Kolkata Police reports, the singing-bar (Hard Rocks Restaurant & Bar), which was the beginning-point of the incident did not have enough licenses to run the bar.
