Kolkata: Police finds man living with sister's corpse and bones of dogs
Kolkata, June 11 (IBNS): In a bizarre case, the police on Thursday morning found a burnt body, a human skeleton, bags of bones and a man who is believed to be mentally unstable from a flat in central Kolkata's Robinson Lane.
The situation was unearthed after police reached the flat as a result of trail of smoke spotted from the bathroom.
While Kolkata boasts of a much hyped social life, the family comprising of Partha De, 47, and his father Arabinda De, 77, had been living inside their house with the remains of his dead sister, Debjani, and two dogs since last December.
After the police knocked the door of their flat, Partha De opened the door. On breaking the door of the bathroom, police found a charred body, which was that of Arabinda De.
According to preliminary investigations, Arabinda De had apparently set himself on fire inside the bathroom.
On being asked, Partha De revealed that the human skeleton was that of his sister who died in December last year. His sister, who was a music teacher in an English medium school, died after being a victim of depression and for quitting food.
She was in depression after their dogs died in August 2014.
De said he and his father did not cremate Debjani's body as they loved her.
According to reports, he suffered from hallucinations that her soul visited them for dinner every night.
The skeleton was also found surrounded by food.
The remains have been sent for forensic examination. De is also in police custody and is undergoing interrogation.
The police have reportedly found diaries written by De in which he has accounted of an unhappy upbringing.
Reports have also revealed that there was a property dispute between Arabinda De and his brother. However, neither his brother nor their neighbours had any clue about the situation inside the flat.
