Kolkata Police issue lookout notice against Nupur Sharma after she skips summons

Kolkata/IBNS: The Kolkata Police on Saturday issued a lookout notice for suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nupur Sharma after she failed to appear before them for the fourth time over her controversial Prophet remark which triggered a row in recent weeks, media reports said.

She had skipped summons issued by officers of Amherst Street and Narkeldanga police stations.

Kolkata Police had earlier served a notice under CrPC section 41 asking Nupur Sharma to appear before the investigating officer (IO) at Narkeldanga Police Station on June 20.

Amherst Street police station had separately summoned her after FIRs were lodged against her last month.

Sharma's controversial comment on Prophet Mohammed had drawn fury from the Muslim community members across the country.

She had cited apprehensions of a possible assault on her if she visited Kolkata and sought four weeks' time to appear before the cops.
