Mamata lends support to FTII protest, will send three-member delegation to Pune

Kolkata, Aug 23 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has now lent his support to the protesting students of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune.
She will send a three-member delegation consisting Abhishek Banerjee, Derek O`Brien and Satabdi Roy to visit FTII on Monday.

The students are protesting over the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan as the new chairman of the institution for over two month now.

The students of the prestigious institute have questioned the process of selecting Chauhan for the post who is also a member of the ruling BJP party.

Chauhan was well known for playing the role of  "Yudhishthira" in the popular Indian TV serial Mahabharat.

Heavy weight politicians like Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had visited the institute to lend support earlier.
