Ananta Goswami, 45, appeared before the police after receiving a summon over the video of the interior of Odisha's Sri Jagannath Temple he had posted on the social media last month.

Goswami, who is from the holy city of Vrindaban in Uttar Pradesh, allegedly posted videos of the sanctorum and interiors of the 12th-century temple on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook on January 18.

The videos went viral on social media.

The account where the videos were posted was identified as 'Banke Bihariji Ananta'.

He appeared before the police on Thursday.

“A notice was served him directing him to appear before police after the video was found circulation on social media. A case has been registered under the Temple Act, and his statement has been recorded,” SP (Puri) Vinit Agrawal was quoted as saying by Odisha Bytes.

He said an investigation is going on to ascertain how he took the mobile phone inside the temple.
