Mathura: High Court rejects plea to declare Shahi Idgah as a disputed structure

The Allahabad High Court on Friday dismissed the petition filed by the Hindu side that sought a declaration of the Shahi Masjid in Mathura as a disputed structure.

This marks the latest development in the ongoing battle over the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah mosque in Mathura.

The petition, Application A-44, had sought to officially designate the Shahi Idgah mosque as a "disputed structure" in court records and further proceedings, reported India Today.

The petition was filed by Advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh.

The plea was rejected by the single bench of Justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra.

The next hearing in the case will be held on August 2.

The lawsuit is one of the many filed by several Hindu outfits, who demand the removal of 17th century Shahi Idgah Masjid from the Katra Keshav Dev temple.

They claim that the mosque was built on the birthplace of Lord Krishna, where previously a temple existed.
