Modi attacks Cong, says new year resolution should be to let Parl function

New Delhi, Dec 31 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attacked the Congress party and accused it of trying to "destroy Parliament."
While speaking at a public meeting in Noida shortly after launching a 14-lane expressway between Delhi and Meerut in Western Uttar Pradesh, Modi said, "Those, who have enjoyed power for 50-60 years, they have no right to destroy the working of the Parliament."

"It is unfortunate in this country that our Parliament, where laws are made, is not being allowed to run," the PM said.

Modi said that those rejected by the people are hampering the functioning of the Parliament.

"We should give priority to the work that we are expected to do," the PM said adding that the New year's resolution should be to the Parliament to work smoothly.

"Tomorrow is the new year. When you celebrate, take a pledge not to stop Parliament from functioning," Modi said targetting the Congress.

He said this 14-lane expressway between Delhi and Meerut in Western Uttar Pradesh is a highway of development.

"This is not a mere road, it is becoming a highway of  development. This will make it easy for Delhiites to make shot trips during weekends. The measure will also provide boost to weekend tourism," Modi said.
