Nehru, his forefathers' Wikipedia pages altered using govt IP address: Congress
New Delhi, July 1 (IBNS): The Congress party on Wednesday stepped up the attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and accused it of making mischievous changes in the Wikipedia pages of former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and his father Motilal Neheru.
"Wikipedia pages of Jawaharlal Nehru, Motilal Nehru were altered. What is worse it was done from a government IP and from National Informatics Centre," Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said.
Attacking PM Modi, he said: "Will PM answer how were Wikipedia pages of former Prime ministers and Congress leaders altered through a Govt IP?"
He also targeted the Centre in connection with the Lalit Modi row.
As per reports, the malicious edits stated, "Gangadhar was born as a Muslim by the name of Ghiasuddin Ghazi but changed his name to a Hindu Ganga Dhar to escape British clutches."
The BJP government at the Centre is hit by a controversy which involve the names of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje for allegedly helping former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi's application for immigration to the UK in 2011.
Since the news came to surface, Oppositions are demanding the resignations of the two BJP bigwigs from their respective posts.
"We demand that letters written by then FM P Chidambaram to UK authorities on Lalit Modi be made public," said he.
