New Delhi/IBNS: Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali J. Angmo, on Saturday said no medical treatment should be administered to the activist without her consent, hours after he was removed by police from New Delhi's Jantar Mantar, where he had been on a hunger strike since June 28.

Angmo reaches Safdarjung Hospital

Angmo reached Safdarjung Hospital, where Wangchuk has been admitted following his removal from the protest site.

She said Wangchuk's family and the doctors who have been monitoring his health should be consulted before any treatment is administered.

'Nothing should be administered without my consent'

In a post on X, Angmo wrote: "I am at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi where @Wangchuk66 has been admitted. Nothing should be administered to him orally or intravenously without taking consent from me, his family and his doctors who have been monitoring his health for the past 20 days."

Wangchuk shifted to hospital after 21-day fast

Wangchuk's removal from the protest site and subsequent hospitalisation came days after the Delhi High Court directed the Centre to ensure the activist's health.

According to reports, Wangchuk has lost around 9 kg during his 21-day hunger strike.

CJP alleges police crackdown at Jantar Mantar

CJP protesters alleged that Delhi Police resorted to lathicharge and disrupted the protest site while removing Wangchuk.

"Delhi Police is cracking down at Jantar Mantar. Beating up people and taking away Sonam sir forcefully," Dipke wrote on X.

Dipke says protest, Parliament march will continue

In a video message released later, Dipke said the agitation would continue despite Wangchuk's removal and confirmed that the planned march to Parliament on July 20 would go ahead as scheduled.
