Odisha: Youth beheads minor girl in rural Sambalpur, roams around village with severed head

Sambalpur: In a shocking incident, a youth beheaded an eight-year-old girl on Friday when she went to attend nature's call in her village.

The tragic incident took place in Kasada village under Jamankira police station in Odisha's Sambalpur district.

Police said one Prasant Bagar (30) of Kasada village beheaded a minor girl of eight years with a sharp axe when she went to attend nature's call near the village pond.

The girl died on the spot.

The matter did not end there.

The accused youth moved around the village with the chopped head of the girl and washed the head in the village tubewell.

However, the villagers overpowered the youth and handed him over to the police.

The body of the girl was later handed over to her parents after the post mortem at the Kuchinda government hospital.

SDPO of Kuchinda Rajkishore Mishra said the intention behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

It needs mention that an almost similar incident happened in the neighboring Deogarh district where a youth beheaded a minor girl from his family on March 15.
