Ola driver arrested in Delhi for misbehaviour, cab service take action

| | Nov 04, 2015, at 10:30 pm
New Delhi, Nov 4 (IBNS) Days after an Uber cab driver was sentenced to life for assaulting a woman passenger in Delhi in 2014, an Ola cab driver has been arrested on charges of misbehaving with a female passenger and her daughter, even as the accused was terminated by the online cab service, said officials.

According to police, the driver took a detour and that  sparked an argument with the passengers.  The driver demanded the complainant and her daughter exit the vehicle.

The woman then called the police and the driver was arrested  on charges of threat and intimidation.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Ola told IBNS: "We have terminated the said vehicle and the driver from the Ola platform after reaching out to the customer to take her feedback. We have zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour from drivers-partners registered with us."

"We have also assured full support on sharing all required information like driver details, GPS coordinates etc., if need be, to help her pursue this. Ola is committed to the safety of its users at all times," it added.

On Tuesday, Uber cab driver Shiv Kumar Yadav, who was held guilty of raping a woman passenger in his vehicle and trying to strangulate her while committing the act, was sentenced to life by a Delhi court.
